The Barbican

The Eternal Golden Braid: Gödel Escher Bach

This performance-lecture at the Barbican brought together mathematician Marcus du Sautoy, harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani, and composers Robert Thomas and Robert Laidlow, with AI systems developed by computational artist Parag K Mital. Inspired by Douglas Hofstadter’s Gödel, Escher, Bach, the event featured a blend of live performance and machine learning-generated music, presented by the London Contemporary Orchestra and shaped by real-time audience feedback.

I worked as a Sound Designer and Audio Engineer on this project, assisting composer Robert Thomas. My tasks included restoring old recordings, recording on location, programming in Pure Data, and engineering studio rehearsal sessions.
